La apuesta de Yachting Mexico por una nueva forma de navegar
CatamaranWhy Are Power Catamarans So Popular? Yachting Mexico’s Take on a New Way to Cruise
Discover why power catamarans are one of the fastest-growing segments in premium yachting, and explore the models offered by Yachting Mexico — exclusive representative of Prestige, Jeanneau, Tesoro Yachts, and Excess in Mexico.
A Category That’s Here to Stay
Today’s premium recreational boating market offers more choices than ever, each designed around a different style of life on the water.
Monohull yachts remain the natural choice for those seeking speed, sleek design, and a more dynamic cruising experience. Sailing catamarans are hard to beat for those who value the experience of sailing, greater autonomy, and a more relaxed pace at sea.
Power catamarans, meanwhile, have carved out a category of their own: designed for those who want the stability and generous living space of a catamaran, combined with the speed, comfort, and convenience of motor cruising.
They are neither better nor worse than the alternatives. They simply offer the right answer for a particular type of boater — and that audience is growing fast.
What Makes a Power Cat Different?
The twin-hull design creates a very different onboard experience from a monohull: more beam and usable living space, less rolling at anchor, and expansive deck areas that feel more like a private terrace than a traditional boat.
That doesn’t make it better — it simply reflects a different set of priorities. For those who cruise with larger groups, value long days at anchor over outright passage speed, or want their guests to feel comfortable from the moment they step aboard, a power catamaran is a natural choice.
At the same time, those who enjoy the driving experience of a motor yacht, the elegance of sleek monohull lines, or the unique pleasure of sailing will find exactly what they are looking for in other categories.
At Yachting Mexico, we represent all of these options — because we understand that there is no single right boat for everyone.
Models Available in Mexico
Yachting Mexico is the exclusive representative of Prestige and Jeanneau in Mexico, offering personalized guidance, local after-sales support, and first-hand knowledge of every model. In the power catamaran category, these are the models currently available:
Prestige M6 — Designed from the ground up as a power catamaran, the M6 delivers the interior volume of a 60+ foot yacht on a platform under 50 feet. It features a beach-club-style terrace, Volvo joystick control, a cruising speed of 16 knots, and a range of nearly 800 nautical miles at 7 knots.
A best-seller in its category, the M6 is also available through our Co-Ownership program, with professional management and a home base in the Sea of Cortez.
Prestige M7 — The latest addition to the M-Line. At 17.84 meters, powered by twin 550 HP Volvo D8 engines and offering a range of more than 1,600 nautical miles, the M7 is designed for extended cruising.
With 200 m² of living space — comparable to that of a monohull over 70 feet — it is a natural choice for those who want to go farther without compromising on comfort, space, or refinement.
Designed for those who see the sea not as a destination, but as a way of life.
Prestige M8 — The flagship of the M-Line. At 19.82 meters, with a 50 m² flybridge, up to four en-suite staterooms, and twin 600 HP Volvo engines, the M8 brings a new dimension to life on the water.
At 8 knots, fuel consumption is just 20 liters per hour; at 20 knots, it reminds you that it is still very much a yacht. It delivers the comfort and living space of an 80-foot monohull on a platform designed to fit comfortably into conventional marinas.
A floating residence for those who see no reason to compromise between living well on land and living well at sea.
Tesoro T38 Power Cat — A 38-foot power catamaran with expansive deck areas, two independent cabins, and speeds of up to 32 knots. A compelling choice for those looking to combine performance and generous social spaces in an agile, versatile platform.
Jeanneau TH38 — A 38-foot power catamaran featuring two cabins, capacity for up to 15 guests, more than 15 m² of deck space, and a generous 4.45-meter beam. Joystick control, dual displays, and a modular deck layout make it equally well suited for active cruising and relaxed days at anchor. Designed by Garroni Design, with naval architecture by Marc Lombard.
Jeanneau TH33 — A 33-foot power catamaran that brings the same TH philosophy to a more accessible format. Twin 12-inch Garmin displays, an ergonomic helm station, and an optional cabin package for overnight trips make it an ideal entry point into the TH range.
